Community open day at Great Glen Crematorium
Great Glen Crematorium, Natural Burial Ground & Memorial Gardens is looking forward to welcoming visitors to a community open day on Sunday 12 October.
An invitation is open to anyone to visit between 10am and 12.30pm, when they will be able to tour the beautiful memorial gardens, the crematorium’s comfortable chapel, its Pooja Hall and the natural burial ground.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to take a tour of the crematory, if they wish, and will be able to meet the crematorium’s friendly and supportive team.
Great Glen Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 41 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, and which is trusted by more families than any other provider to deliver funerals for their loved ones.
All of Westerleigh's locations are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect, while benefitting from exceptional care and support from its teams.
Manager Marc Palmer said: “Our open days present people with the opportunity to visit our site in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and learn more about everything we have to offer local families.
“At Great Glen we are particularly proud of the efforts we have made to be accessible and inclusive to the many diverse communities who live locally.
“For the bereaved of Hindu and Sikh faiths, we have a dedicated Pooja Hall and prayer room, a purpose-built space close to the main chapel which provides a private setting for mourners to observe their traditions and pay respects before and after the main ceremony itself.
“For anyone looking for a simpler burial, we’re pleased to offer tranquil environment of our natural burial ground.
“Visitors will be able to learn about the exceptional care and support we provide to the bereaved, the wide range of farewell services we offer and the numerous memorial options available to help people remember their loved ones.
“Should they wish, visitors are also welcome to write a letter or card to someone they have lost, and place it in our Letters to Loved Ones memorial post box.
“We will be very happy to answer any questions anyone may have about what we do here. Alternatively, visitors may simply choose to explore our site and take some quiet time to pause and reflect.
“We look forward to welcoming our neighbours on 12 October.”
The community open day is free of charge, there is no need to book in advance, and light refreshments will be available.
